Laying it on an ocean line
I'm trying to step out of my comfort zone lately, I have a lot of self confidence issues with my work. I guess you are always your greatest critic. I was recently inspired by an awesome new photographer - she's light years ahead of me but just starting out too. I honestly think that some people are just naturally gifted with a sight to see the potential of a subject before they shoot it. Ali Brown is one of those.
I was meandering blogs and reading up on techniques and thought I'd check what Ali was up to. As my luck would have it she had a new entry for today! We both peruse another photo blog Me Ra Koh (who in my eyes is an iconic figure, she's my spiderman or superman comic hero) and she holds monthly contests on her blog. This month it was in celebration of summer and the theme was "water". Ali posted her entry and blew me away! Although it may make me feel inferior as a photographer I still felt compelled to step up to the challenge and enter my own photo.
As the contest entries must be in by 12am tonight there was no way I could go and shoot specifically for the theme but I remembered a comment from my dropshots site. "This is contest worthy." Well, I guess we'll see if it is! I took a deep breath and hit just send a moment ago!

Wish me luck!
