Pops and silly songs

Today is a very sad day for me and my family. My great-grandfather passed away at the ripe age of 88 years old.

As I sit and remember him I think back to his much younger days of 66 years of age. I remember walking hand in hand to the bank listening to his silly nonsense songs about Yvonne going to the bank. I remember the fourth of July when he rescued my brother from a rusty nail Josh stepped on (that totally ruined out trip to see fireworks by the way!). It's funny because I also remember the moon that summer night because the moon was a sliver of a crescent and there was one really bright star just above it ... Pops and I sat there watching it as we waited for the rest of the family to get back from the hospital. I remember his love of that HUGE Winnebago he used to drive up to my grandmothers house every summer (we're talking the tour bus type one with a kitchen, bedroom, couch, and bathroom with shower!). As Pops used to say it was "luck-shur-ee" in his thick southern accent.

The last time I saw Pops was almost two years ago before we moved out to California. He wasn't the same man I remembered as a child but he was still a great man. There was that familar look in his soft gentle eyes as he held my youngest child. Laughing at my daughters crazy 2 year olds antics... and him singing a silly Brielle is acting crazy song... I will miss those songs and promise to always sing them to my children.

Hard to believe there were 5 generations between these two!

Extremely hard to believe that this man once lifted this GIANT man off a nail like he was nothing! I think Josh was actually my nephew's, Jacob's, age when that happened.
Brielle, Myself, Pops, Grandma Lester, Josh, Jacob and Bryan hanging on at the end! My last picture with my silly singing Pops.
I am a better person having known, loved and been loved by you, Pops. Thank you.
In loving memory of Whitney J. Boudreaux aka Pops.

I am sorry to hear of your loss. He sounds like he touched a lot of hearts in his lifetime and will always be remembered. xC
