Men in brown, boxes of white and rapid heart beats
I did it. I made the biggest move I could possibly make in my career, I invested in a new camera. What was wrong with my old camera you might ask? Nothing. NOTHING at all! I'm crazy, that's what! I had to opportunity to upgrade when dear friend (not going to mention names but it starts with "Steph" and ends with "anie") started looking into her first DSLR. She said she bookmarks all cameras against mine because she's love all the images that I have captured for her and her family with mine.
So, what better way to meet your expectation than to use that camera?! So we played "Let's make a deal" and between negotiations with our man-wives (aka husbands) we came to a conclusion - "Steph" + "anie" was going to buy my beloved rebel xti... and I was going to buy my new beloved 50D!
They were heading away for a getaway so I wrapped up my baby and packaged her in a warm cozy box and somewhere around 11pm my time I finally hit the "send" button on my order to B&H for the replacement. It was a moment to behold as I watched the order go through... I just signed my life away! I am now responsible for my own destiny. I have to earn my right to own this magnificent piece of technology! Early in the am hours (and I'm talking e.a.r.l.y. - 430am constitutes full stops) "Steph"+"anie" picked up her new baby on their way out of town.
For a whole 28 hours I was naked. Walking-through-the-supermarket-naked. I didn't have a camera! I watched countless moments pass where I found myself reaching for my beloved... and she was not there. But! That quickly disappeared when the man in brown rang my doorbell! I have seriously never wanted to hug the UPS man so much in my life!! All I could mutter was "give-me-give-me-give-me-give-me-give-me" as he made me sign the electronic board. Immediately I turned around and fell to my knees as I ripped open the BIG BROWN BOX of goodness! Sweet release as I ran my fingers over the pretty white canon boxes inside. Bubble wrap has never looked so good. (I couldn't take any pictures but would of if the camera would of been outside of these glorious boxes!) It was literally HOURS after I could sit down and play with my treasures. The punks came in and asked if they could help open my boxes and were quick to retreat when I warned them if they "ever... touched... this...." lol! It wasn't that dramatic but close!
To make a long story short there are not enough hours int he day for me to do my things and play with my new toy! I have to admit the learning curve on this is steeper than my old camera. I was disappointed that I couldn't pick it up directly out of the box and go Annie Leibovitz all over the place (not that I categorize myself in class at all!! She's a Greek goddess in my eyes though!). I did manage to go for a spin yesterday at Mt Soledad memorial in La Jolla though... these are a few of the captures...
Bryan was excited for me! Maybe he was just excited mommy stopped growling?
