Histograms schmistograms!
Whaaaaa?! You don't know what a histogram is? Where have you been?!
Well, a histogram is the way we photogs (yeah I can say that now huh?) make sure we nail exposures. They can come in all shapes and sizes, though they are not all correct. I recently tried explaining this to a couple of friends. Anyone who knows me knows I don't explain things very well. Just imagine LOTS of hand movements, a little side tracking, potty breaks, maybe a diagram or three, and this is just explaining how my day has gone!! So, we'll just say I don't explain things easily or concisely... but I know a guy who does!
John Mireles is a wedding photographer here in San Diego whose work I admire. Imagine my excitement when I caught his magical trio of histogram explanations! If you're interested in photography, a little confused by histograms or just like listening to smooth talkers check out these links:
I promise he will use less hand motions and only a few necessary drawings!
This post is dedicated to some of my girls (you know who you are). Hoping this helps shine a little light on your exposures and histograms!
