DOF Project 4

Just because I'm lazy I didn't post both my projects I had returned last Wed. So here goes nothing...

Project 4 covered DOF which is depth of field. We had to achieve both shallow and deep DOF. I can't say I cheated because I didn't, but for the shallow DOF I whipped out my new 50mm 1.8 prime lens. It gives awesome shallow DOF! I love this lens so much. I can't wait until I can afford the 1.4... I think Big J will have a nervous breakdown when he sees that bill. Anyway, back to the project, I scoured Old Town looking for something inspirational. I don't know how many know this but I do have a love for graveyards and old churches. As I entered Immaculate Conception Catholic Church I felt "at home". I snapped several of the alter and the beautiful stained glass, blenches and then headed to the candle prayer alter. Something about old brass and candles just spoke to me. When I was checking the tiny little preview screen on my camera everything had this dark mysterious look and I just LOVED it!

Still in Old Town I search high and low for the deep DOF. I struggled with this for some reason and later found that other students did too. Nothing seemed to inspire me for this part of the project. Everything just seemed generic and post card like to me. Finally after shooting for about an hour I can honestly say I just snapped on off and called it a day. The guitars did enthrall me initially but looking back it's still a very generic photo - blah!

Isn't that an awesome lens? It has to be my fave...great for low lit situations too...so, I think you did great for your project and are just progressing so fast!
